We've become so conditioned to repeating clichés and phrases without really giving much thought to the meaning of what we're saying. You've probably heard or even uttered the phrase, "It's the least you/I could do". Have you ever given thought to what it means? Well, thankfully, I have. What someone is saying when speaking those words is basically this, "Although I want to help, I don't really want to give 100%, my full attention or a strong effort, so I'll give the minimum or do as little as possible". Really? I'm sure the motives are pure when those words are spoken, but if we pay more attention to the literal meaning of what we say, we may not say it. Just a thought.
